Full Time, Benefited Position

This position is funded by a Public Health Excellence (PHE) Grant.

Designed to support the Special Commission on Local and Regional Public Our Valley Health Regional Collaborative (VHRC) Consist of the following municipalities: Greenfield (lead Agency), Montague, Deerfield, Sunderland, Shutesbury, and Leverett.

The Health Inspector will be based at a town to be determined, rotating the collaborative for coverage. The Health Inspector will report to the Greenfield Health Director and the Valley Steering Committee – the shared public health services Board.

Conduct inspections of restaurants, retail food establishments, temporary food establishments, mobile food units, school cafeterias, church kitchens, hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfast establishments, Airbnb’s, recreational camps, tanning establishments, body art establishments, public and semi-public swimming pools, and indoor pools and spas to ensure compliance with the local and State codes. Act to eliminate nuisances, unsanitary conditions, sources of filth and air pollution. Respond to general complaints, housing issues and nuisances. Issue enforcement orders, send letters for follow-up if required, and conduct re-inspections.

High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s degree in science or public health preferred. Must obtain a registered Sanitarian License within (6) years of hire; Must complete the foundations course within (18) months of hire, Must have a valid class D drivers license; an acceptable driving record.

Must have training for LPHI, Must be a certified Lead Inspector, Must be Serve-Safe certified, Must be Title V certified, Must be a Certified Pool Operator, all within (1) year of Hire.
