Shop Manager – Diesel Mechanic Garage

Location: West Springfield, Massachusetts

We are a busy and growing diesel mechanic garage in West Springfield, Massachusetts, dedicated to providing top-quality service to our valued customers. We specialize in the repair and maintenance of a wide range of diesel vehicles, from heavy-duty trucks to commercial fleets along with truck & trailer repair. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Shop Manager to lead our team of talented technicians and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our facility.

Responsibilities:

-Manage/mentor team of diesel technicians.
-Coordinate workflow, prioritize repairs, and ensure timely completion of all jobs.
-Act as a primary point of contact for customers, providing estimates, explaining repairs, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
-Manage parts inventory, ordering, and receiving.
-Monitor shop equipment and tools, ensure proper maintenance and calibration.
-Prepare and manage shop budgets, track expenses, identify areas for cost savings.
-Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
-Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations professionally and effectively.
-Work with management on business development and strategic planning.
 

Qualifications:

-Proven experience (5+ years) as a diesel mechanic or worked within a heavy equipment repair shop.  -Any level of management experience acceptable.
-Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, tractor & trailer repair.
-Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
-Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
-Proficient in shop management software and basic computer applications.
-Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a garage environment.
-Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex mechanical issues (diagnostic work)
-Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
-Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. CDL is a plus.
-ASE certifications in diesel repair are highly desirable.
