Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities
We are searching for someone with experience in quality assurance and inspection. Preferred candidates will be bright, detailed individuals who are good with GD&T and statistical analysis. Q.A. Inspectors perform duties associated with the inspection of machined components. They utilize and operate precision measurement equipment, including bench gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Inspectors communicate with co-workers regarding production errors, and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Q.A. Inspectors are expected to have achieved intermediate to advanced skills and be able to perform complex inspection work such as CAD/solid model interpretation, CMM set-up and operation, precision tool use and calibration, statistical analysis, and data analysis and reporting.
The Q.A. Inspector is responsible for the following activities:
· Performs all general inspection duties and responsibilities.
· Interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and computerized solid models, including GD&T notation.
· Verifying part dimensions by measuring features and positions, adhering to international standards, manipulating and interpreting a variety of bench gauging (micrometers, calipers, pins, snap gauges, indicators, height gauges, etc.) and operating and interpreting optical comparators, while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
· Setting up and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment by installing and adjusting fixtures and CMM probes, writing inspection programs, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting programs, adjusting and reprogramming controls, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
· Maintaining measurement equipment by appropriate handling, completing preventive maintenance requirements, checking calibration status, re-calibrating tools when necessary, and calling for repairs.
· Maintaining quality records by documenting and communicating actions and completing inspection logs.
· Maintains clean and orderly work area including equipment and performs all assignments in a safe manner and in accordance with established quality procedures.
· Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
· Accomplishing organizational goals by accepting ownership, accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Performing other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed by Supervisor or other designated individual; problem solving in order to ensure on-time delivery of customer parts.
Education – Experience
High School Diploma with 3-4 years of experience in quality assurance is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with additional higher education or experience.
Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs
Promising applicants should have experience programming and operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and optical comparators, previous Starrett Galileo CMM experience is a plus; math skills equal to that used in a machining environment; computer skills, including proficiencies with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CAD/solid model interpretation; must be proficient with blueprints, GD&T, and measuring instruments; must have excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills; must be willing to cross train and assist other work areas when needed. Must be willing and able to work 1st shift.
Other training requirements – Comments
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2008 is not necessary, but is preferred. Familiarity with E2 Shop System software is not necessary, but is preferred.
