JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanic is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining on-site equipment and related systems. This includes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance performed in a safe, environmentally compliant, and professional manner. The Mechanic must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of heavy equipment. Required experience includes diesel engines, hydraulics, final drives, and 12/24-volt electrical systems. Experience with stick welding, fabrication, and steel cutting is preferred. Strong, reliable attendance is essential to this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quickly become knowledgeable of the Company’s systems, equipment, and processes
Monitor and maintain on-site equipment and related systems, including conveyor systems, motors, and bearings, to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance safely and professionally, with minimal supervision, in compliance with Federal and State regulations and Company policies
Maintain a comprehensive maintenance log for all systems and assist with preparation for shutdown days
Initiate and complete work orders and requisitions; document all critical and relevant information, including work performed and time spent, within the computerized maintenance system
Requisition parts as needed and ensure accurate documentation
Perform welding and minor electrical troubleshooting as required
Demonstrate proficiency with hand and power tools, blueprint reading, mechanical fasteners, and strong mechanical skills
Maintain strong, reliable attendance
Be available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and extended hours as needed
Take proactive measures to identify and address equipment and process improvement opportunities
Attend all required training sessions and meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Promote a strong safety culture and proactively identify and implement improvements to safety practices
Maintain and follow all Company environmental compliance, health, and safety requirements, policies, procedures, and rules
Communicate safety concerns to the EHS Manager and equipment repair needs to the Maintenance Supervisor
Identify debris, hazards, or unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Ability to anticipate mechanical issues and identify equipment wear before failure
SCHEDULE & WORK CONDITIONS
Regular schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Hours may vary between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, based on operational needs
Must be able to work extended hours as required to meet operational demands
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, bend, twist, and reach for up to 10 hours per day
Ability to work at heights frequently exceeding four (4) feet and access confined spaces
Ability to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders during normal operations and emergency situations
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including catwalks, deck grating, wet or muddy areas, and uneven surfaces
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and safety-toed, high-top work boots
Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and work extended hours, including Saturdays, as needed
