A Firefighter/EMT for the Greenfield Fire Department is responsible for the appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency calls including medical work, responding to fires and hazardous materials incidents, fire prevention and education, maintenance, cleaning, planning, training and office functions as required. The Firefighter/ EMT is expected to work on a rotating twenty-four (24) hour schedule (1on/1off/1on/5 off) for an average of 42 hours per week over an 8 week period.

Must become a basic emergency medical technician (EMT) within 18 months of employment start and shall maintain this EMT status throughout employment, promotions, etc, with the Greenfield Fire Department. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must successfully complete the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training program.  Possession of a Massachusetts Class D driver’s license is required. Must live within 10 miles of the Main Station within 18 months.
