The Mohawk Trail Regional School Math Program of Studies includes the Illustrative Math Curriculum in grades 7-8 and the Integrated Math (IM) curriculum for its three foundational high school courses. With this foundation, students have the option to enroll in a variety of advanced and elective mathematics coursework. Teachers in the department utilize a common core curriculum, lesson structure, assessments, and instructional approach for IM. Foundational courses are detracked, and department teachers are expected to provide a rigorous yet supportive learning environment for all students. Department members are expected to be collaborative, committed to professional growth, and data-informed. It is the practice of department members to meet regularly, refine lessons and assessments, and examine student work to support strong student learning outcomes.
The qualified candidate will:
-Middle School: Have experience or commitment to teaching the Illustrative Math curriculum in heterogeneous classes that emphasize collaborative problem-solving, high expectations, and differentiated instruction.
-High School: Have experience with Integrated Math and or Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Statistics, Data Systems, Pre-Calculus, and prefer experience with or willingness to prepare to teach AP Calculus
-Have an understanding of and commitment to inquiry-based learning
-Be able to collaborate with teachers in the department and our district Math Coach, and have experience in using data to support pedagogy
-Believe that all students can learn math to high levels and competencies to support student growth, and have a strong commitment to equity, differentiation
